Employers are you aware that if you require your employees to use a mobile telephone in connection
with your business while driving, not only will your employee face a fine or worse under the new law,
but you as the employer can also face the same level of prosecution not to mention the damage to your
company reputation. Ensure you protect yourself and ensure ALL your employees know the company
policy on using mobiles while driving, whether you supply hands-free kits or not and even better have a
signed document between you and the employee outlining this policy.
Update: 27 th February 2007 the law will change from £30 fine to a £60 fine
plus 3 penalty points for anyone caught holding a mobile phone while driving, please be aware that this
can also be applied even if you are using a hands-free kit if the police consider your driving to be
dangerous.
Warning if you need to drive off and your on a call ensure that your handset is not in your hand even if
you have a handsfree kit installed we have recently had a couple of customers in this position who were
stopped by the police and given a fine plus points as the law states that you must not be holding a mobile
while driving.
